A new student organization, Bangladesh Democratic Students' Council (BDSC), has been formed under the initiative of former coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The name of the organization was announced along with the central and Dhaka University committees on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 3 PM at the Madhu's Canteen of Dhaka University.
The organization’s convener is Abu Bakar Majumdar, and the general secretary is Zahid Ahsan.
The central committee of the Democratic Students' Council, which is based on the principles of education, unity, and liberation, also includes Senior Joint Convener Touhid Mohammad Siam, Senior General Secretary Rifat Rashid, and Chief Organizer Tahmid Al Mudassir Chowdhury. Ashrefa Khatun will serve as the spokesperson for the organization.
The Dhaka University committee includes Abdul Kader as the convener and Mahir Alam as the general secretary. Other members of the committee are Senior Joint Convener Limon Mahmud Hasan, Senior General Secretary Al Amin Sarkar, and Chief Organizer Hasib Al Islam. The spokesperson for the Dhaka University committee will be Rafia Rehnuma Hridi.
Earlier, on February 17, 2025, Abu Bakar Majumdar, a former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced the formation of the new student organization at a press conference at Dhaka University’s Madhu's Canteen. The slogan of the organization will be “Students First, Bangladesh First.”
